Location and current conditions of the square



Inspiration

The design of the square was inspired by the natural fall of the water, forming intercommunicating wooden terraces suspended on metal posts on the ground. These posts would continue vertically forming an upper bower in each of the sectors. A vine would be placed on each post, which would be planted by neighbourhood representatives from the different streets of the Industrial Polygon.
On the other side of the sidewalk and inspired by the "Industrial Zone" graphic icon, a stable commercial area was designed for the sale of products designed and made in the Industrial Polygon ISO.

COSTABANCHEL is the design of a preliminary architectural project for the sustainable transformation and renovation of disused land owned by the Madrid City Council adjacent to the Plaza de Almodóvar, located in the Industrial Polygon ISO, District of Carabanchel.
With Costabanchel's preliminary architectural design project, the VR Lab of the IED's City Lab, as part of the "Carabanchel Creativa" 2019 project, carried out a Virtual Reality simulation, involving the Neighbourhood Associations and various agents of the Carabanchel ISO Industrial Estate
The project concluded with a Virtual Reality visualization in the same square, where neighbors and visitors were able to observe the transformation by taking a virtual tour of the square.
